Anyone who knows me will know I’m a bit of an Apple nerd. So it’s no wonder I’ve always loved the famous ‘Crazy Ones’ speech that Steve Jobs reads for their advert back in 1997. Here’s the text, just in case you’ve never read or heard it.
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
It’s really inspiring and there’s so much truth in that. We need to step out and take risks in order to see change. But the bit that has been in my head tonight is that last sentence.
"Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."
Here’s the thing. The people who think they can change the world are ACTUALLY crazy! We can’t change the world. But we know someone who can. I want to suggest that the people who are ‘crazy’ enough to believe that God can use them to change the world, are the ones who will see the world changed.
